How
long would it take to design and build my website? This will depend on a number of factors. Having a large website with lots of content and images will take longer to built than a smaller website. Making your images web ready or creating a logo for your website will also add time to the project. If you have all the content and images ready for your website then we can design and built the pages in about a week. Registering your domain name and setting up your web space will only take a few days. Back to top |
Do
you charge for consultations? Highland Web Solutions do not make any charges for consultation work, we are happy to offer you free help and advice to make your website look professional and to make your experience with us a trouble free and inexpensive one. Back to top |
How
will people find my website? Your website will be submitted to the current top ten search engines on a monthly basis within the first year as part of your free 12 months small scale maintenance plan. If you decide to purchase the plan after the first year then your monthly submission will continue. It is important to advertise the fact that you have a website on all your leaflets, business cards, newspaper adverts, and any other documentation or media that your business produces. Search engines as good as they are should not be totally relied on as they get millions of submissions every week and can return thousands of results when a visitor makes a search request, and it is a well known fact that many visitors will only look at the first 3 pages of search results on a search engine. Can
you help with the pictures for my website? We are able to make the images you supply web ready if you are not able to do so yourself. We use the latest in quality imaging software to make your website graphics look great while at the same time making them small in file size to help them to load faster when a visitor hits your website. We also supply images both still and animated from our vast image library, and we are able carry out quality issue work, add attractive borders, drop shadows and colour effects to make your images really stand out. Can
I have a custom built website? Most of the website's developed by us are custom built, as we are very affordable many of our client use one of the example packages as a foundation and add more pages, graphics, animations and links until they are happy that the website will suit their needs. How
do I pick up e-mail from my website? You will be able to have e-mail accounts set up for your website that are relevant to your business, you may also use your own existing e-mail address. When a visitor clicks on the e-mail button or link within your website the mail or form information they send will go to your computer of choice in the same way that you receive e-mail from any other person. A new e-mail account will need to be set up on your computer for you to receive mail from your site, but this is easy to do and we will talk you through the process and ensure you are up and running properly by testing your mailboxes for you. Can
you include Flash in my website? We do not offer Flash at this stage as not all computers have it installed as standard, this can often render your website almost useless to a visitor who is not using the required software. A visitor who has to go and download Flash software before they can access your website will probably not bother to come back and will just visit a rival company who isn't using it. Flash is not very popular with visitors who use a dial-up connection as this form of connection is not very fast and a Flash site will further slow down access to your information and services. Flash is also quite expensive as many hours of design work are absorbed to produce a quality result. Back to top |
Would
it be possible to update my website every once in a while? We know our clients feel it is important to keep a website updated with the latest products, services and charges, much of our time is taken up updating website's for our existing clients. The worst thing you can do is neglect your website as it can quickly become drab and boring for your regular visitors. Back to top |
Do
I need to have my computer switched on for people to see my website? Your website would be hosted with an external server that is operating 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Even if there happened to be a power cut a generator system would take over and continue to power the server. A few clients with website's do not even own a computer and do not have e-mail accounts set up, they just rely on customers contacting them by phone as they would with any other form of advertising.
